Default Average MPG

I recently purchased a used, stock '06 Ultra. I was impressed with the fact that I have been averaging 47-49 mpg (after riding a 750 metric that yielded at best 42 mpg). Speaking with another rider at work with a stock '99 Ultra, he said that he averages in the low 50's.

So, what are the rest of you touring riders averaging?

Default Fuel Mileage

In the 40s? Oy Vey!
I regularly get 36 MPG, & if I have a long, flat run & keep it to 60-65, I'm blessed with 40-42, solo or 2-up. I can't believe the 6-speed makes that much difference. I've tuned my mixture to 14.2:1, up from the pre-programmed 13.6:1. I don't want to go leaner because the 14.2:1 is noticeably warmer than the 13.6, & the 100 degree days we're having, & I'm afraid of detonation.

Even the admitted hot-rodder gets better gas mileage. I ride conservatively & expect more. Color me sad

Maybe Jamie can enlighten us all . . . Are you out there?

I've gotten as low as 25 mpg riding like a complete idiot (lots of full throttle and sparks) but usually I average 38-47 depending on how much I use cruise control and stay under 75mph.

I hit a high of about 41mpg recently, but now that I'm enjoying....no REJOICING in the new found power of cams, big bore and PC III tune, I'm sucking down the fuel at more like 36-38mpg. Push these chunky machines into the air at over 70mph, and mileage suffers in a big way.

It depends on how I ride and What the wind is like. On a calm day going 60-65 I get about 54 mpg on the highway. Putting around up in Zion I got 58 mpg. On a windy day on the highway my low was 38mpg. If I get on it trying to keep up with my brothers I have had as low as 32. It all depends on the situation.
