Haven't had a problem with air coming up between tank and fairing. All the air I get is coming off the backend of the fairing sides, hitting knees and flowing up my front. If I put my hands between knees and fairing, I have no air 'buffeting' me.

I have to agree these new deflectors don't do zip. Definately not worth the $30 or even carrying home. I wonder if the guys that designed these ride motorcycles? As far as I'm concerned these deflectors are totally worthless.

I am curious as to how you arrived at your conclusion. Do you have a new 2011 Road Glide Ultra or have you mounted the new bar mounted air deflectors on an older model?? Are we talking about real experience or just supposition?

But don't waste your money,.. not worth the $30 in my opinion.
Thanks, I was thinking the same thing.

TO be fair, I haven't tried them yet. However, in studying my 08 RG, I see no reason why they wouldn't fit. Several people on other forums have them on older models.

I believe they work by deflecting air up in front of the tank, and up the riders side of the windshield, thereby minimizing the buffeting created when the high pressure wind comes over the top of the windshield and into the slight vacuum created by the windshield on the riders side. But the between-fork deflector fitted to 08 RG's does the opposite -- it directs the wind down -- so that would be why the 2011 CVO has the new deflectors, but not the old fork deflector. I believe the two would counteract each other. I will be buying a set on Wed. -- I will report back ASAP.

OK, I installed the deflectors on my 2008 RG. At the same time, I removed the fork baffle. (Looking at both, it was clear that they would counteract each other). Then I went out for a ride. First thing I noticed is that the airflow over the top of my shield (Clearview L) was much smoother. I can feel air coming up in front of the tank, pushed up by the deflectors. But there is much less air coming up from under the tank -- my jacket doesn't billow out as much, and there is much less buffeting from my helmet, and my sunglasses did not vibrate anymore. I had less buffeting at 140kph than before at 120kph. So, given the price of $30 (actually 36.99 in Canada), I find it a good solution, but it may depend on the shield that you have, and you MUST remove the fork baffle if you have one on, or they won't work!
