Agreed but reach bars as well. Here's a great seat with back rest.

Its the lower back and thanks for some great suggestions. I'm not riding that thing until I get it figured out. A lot of good ideas though. Appreciate it.
How about the Arnott air shock system. I never rode a Street glide or Road King previously but the ride seems a bit stiffer than I expected. Again, I'm comparing to a new Softail Custom.

I would suggest you visit your dealer and try some of their seats with back rests before ya lay out a bunch of bucks.
I would have never thought the Jiffy stand would cause back pain. It's just a quick flip of the foot before and after the ride.

I am very happy with my Mustang Solo with riders backrest, I just logged 1,000 miles in 3 days from KC to Indianapolis and back.. the back is fine now. I did have some discomfort before in the lower back with the stock seat.

My bad about the jiffy stand remark. I was making fun of my short legs. Folks have been doin' that all my life. PaulD, you got my attention that I be 5" taller than you but we wear the same inseam. On my Heritage with butt on seat, both feet will reach pavement flat footed but I gotta scoot a little bit up on the tank to reach jiffy stand to retract it. Think I saw in HOG rag, H-D dealer has a Fit Adjustment program to adjust or recommend solution. Lot of things to get dialed in. Good Luck.

Seems a bit stiff in the rear.
Not sure if its the seat, shocks or what. Any ideas or recommendations on a seat or why the back is acting up on this bike??
I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks.

We have a couple of things in common, a bad back and Arnott Air Ride. After I installed the Air Ride I too noticed my back was hurting more. I had too much pressure in the shocks. I lowered it way down and now it's much more comfortable. Try lowering the pressure in the shocks and see if it helps.

[QUOTE=PaulD;7103423]Its not the jiffy stand that is causing my back pain. Thank you though.[/QUOTE

Dang, that's what I was going to mention. Hahahahahha

I have the stock suspension on my classic and feel like no matter how much air is in the shocks it's too stiff. Anyway, I wanted to tell you to be careful on how wide of a seat you get. I just got a Zeppelin seat and with it pumped up my feet are just flat on the ground. I am 6'3''. As said above, try the seats on your bike before you purchase. To ease your back you could always look into a backrest.

When I first bought my Road King my back hurt. Taller bars fixed me right up along with the sundowner seat.

You need some bars that will put you in a more upright position. Riding over bumps when you're slouched is not good. As to which bars, you just need to start looking and asking. Good luck.

a general rule is around the shoulders, new bars.in the lower back a backrest, the backrest can be used to keep u just a bit closer to the bars as well.
