Back problem...need a bagger?
How much smoother on my back will a Road King or Heritage Softail be on my back than my current Dyna Fat Bob? Sure, I could change the handlebars and seat, but if there is a huge difference in the smoothness of the ride, then it's settled. I'll go test drive, sell my current scoot and get a King or Heritage...
Thanks again for any help!
Matt
I told you these things man. LOL Man what a small world. I would recommend a RK police model man. Great price, bigger engine. Smooth ride for guys who have to sit in them all day (who's job does that sound like). Good luck in your search brother, and don't let those flight students kill you.
I recently moved from a Fatboy to a Road King Classic. I changed everything I could on the Fatboy so I could go longer than 2 hours.... windshield, bars, seat, moved the floorpans, shifter lever, brake lever. all of it helped, but not enough. the RK is great. I'm really not a bagger kind of guy, and the RK gives me a decent ride without all the fairings and hard bags. I've extended the floorpans, added extended shift lever and brake lever. I do plan to send the stock seat to MCC to lower me a bit and put in a gel pad.
I certainly understand what you mean about being an aviator - I flew Hueys, Mike model Hueys and 58As.... talk about screwing your back. but it was all worth it.
thanks again for your service. he he he... enjoy Mother Rucker

The problem I have with modifying my bike is that it looks like the seat and handlebars will have to change. Well, a seat is not cheap, and to modify the handlebars costs a hell of a lot more than expected for the wiring, etc etc etc.
I wanted to look at a backrest, but it seems that with the riding position, I won't be able to relax back onto the rest without moving the hands from the controls. I got no problem with riding without hands, but it's going to be a little more difficult when it comes time to steer, slow down, put my turn signal on, START the bike, etc etc etc...
The thing is that I was thrilled about the riding position, until I started riding for longer periods. Then, my back took the high ground and the rest of me continues to retreat.
Anyway, Tim, keep your head down. Keep surfing the net (wha? yeah!), and worry not. I will prevail.
