Default Seats 05 Eglide classic

There are so many choices.

Oh well a little background before we start. I am about 5'8" at best, 30 inch inseam and 22-23 inch long arms (from chest to finger tips).

My scooter is a 2005 Electra Glide Classic. I have the handlebars pushed as far forward as possible to get them as high as they can go (stock bars).

Current seat is a comfort stitched reach seat ( I think) It measure 17 inchs (about) from the nose to the back rise.

Long days I have to use my highway pegs the majority of the time as the seat puts pressure on the backs of my legs causing discomfort too my legs. The last two rides of 450 to 500 miles each caused my *** to scream twoards the end of the day. I love the lower back support of the current seat and the fact that I can use my riders backrest with it for long days.

The other thing is that I removed my tour pack and the current seat just looks ugly without the tour pack. Looks like a big black marshmallow on there. I do need something for a passenger though as the daughters like to go with me once and awhile.

I don't have a dealer that has seats on hand to try out so that option is not available. Don't have the cash flow to just buy seats to try out.

I contacted one of the vendors here about seat mods but he said I am stuck with the look of the passenger area, although he can modify the riders area for better comfort.

I want/need a better seat that has good comfort for my body style yet trims down the passenger area a bit.

Let the opinions fly!

Here is a pic of my ride. Oh yes that fat troll looking dork is me, the wife took it last year.

Lots of people are happy with the Mustang - they have a seat with a full sized driver and slimmed down passenger seating area:

I'm one of the rare ones that the Mustang just didn't work for. I now have a Russell Day Long and couldn't be happier.

Man, tough question. I'm still battling the seat dilemma myself. I'm currently riding the police air ride seat my '05 cop glide came with. Behind it, is a Mustang passenger pillion that matches the basketweave vinyl of the rider seat. It's very comfy on the butt, but sits up MUCH higher. I see you have the passenger grab rail. This is still possible to fit underneath the mustang police pax seat, but is a chore to make it work. Lots of grinding needed. A full air ride seat installation is commonly found on Ebay for around $125. The pax seat isn't too big and my wife likes it just fine. What you won't have though, is a backrest, without buying one that attaches to the seat from Utopia:

I'm headed this direction myself, as I find my back is getting sore while my butt is doing pretty well. I'm 5'10", 32" inseam, need 34" sleeves on a dress shirt. I have the +2 sweeper bars and they REALLY help the overall situation for me. I don't like riding stiff armed all the time. The Mustang pax pillion can be easily removed if you take the tour pack off and want to ride solo.

Everyones' ergo needs are different, and what works for someone may be a disaster for you. Behind every bike that fits it's rider pefectly, is a garage full of unused seats. The cop seat is pretty fugly, but is WIDE and very supportive. You'd probably not be able to flat foot while at a stoplight though. I slide forward onto the nose of the seat and can get both feet down firmly, then slide back into the seat once moving.

I hear that. The problem is, that I don't have a garage full of money that I can swap for a garage full of seats. That and my money tree died many years ago. LOL

What are peoples views of the sundowner seat?

For several years (and about 25K-30K miles) I used a take-off RK Standard solo w/ pillion (though the pillion was almost never on the bike) which worked well for me on many 600+ mile days.

The RK Standard solo and pillion can be found on Ebay for $150 or less.

You can use the search function to find out what others have said about the Sundowner.
