Pic size questions?

Pic size questions?
i noticed the uploader will only take Jpegs which are 620/280. when i resized my pics to that size and i upload them, the pics are really small and not that clear. how is it i have seen pics which are really large on some threads?

1) Store the picture on one of the many websites.
2) Get the URL from your photo storage site.
3) Use the "insert" icon at the top of the message window on this site (the little yellow box with the mountain in it).
4) Insert the URL of the stored picture into the area where it says "Please enter the URL of your image."
5) Click OK.
6) Stand back and admire your work.
7) Send me $1 each time you insert a picture as payment for telling you how to post a picture.
Caveat: Since you're actually storing the picture on the other website, it won't take up space on this server. So you can load pretty much any size picture you want, but that means using a little common sense as well. Most folks do not want a 1600x1200 picture, so 640x480 usually works better.
NOTE: Flickr recently changed the way you get the URL for the picture. Now you must click the "share this" link and then select how you want to share the picture. There appear to be some bugs in the system, though.
