Default Installing Grips on Road Glide

I'm missing something here. I was going to replace the grips on my 2010 Road Glide Custom, and I removed the two screws on the control, but couldn't pull it apart. Didn't have this problem with the Dyna ... is there something else holding it together? I can see the electronic throttle is different from the set up on the Dyna, but the instructions for the Grips (for the Touring bike) didn't give any other clues. What am I missing?

You have to seperate the upper and lower half of the switch housing to slide the throttle side grip off. Then just slide the new one on.

On my Street Glide I had to also loosen the two bolts for the brake and clutch lever assemblies.

I removed the two Torx bolts, and the top half of the assembly would come up, but couldn't get the bottom portion of the assembly to budge.

I believe there is a note in the service manual on this. Probably for the little locating tab on the top half. Do this and they should come off

if it's the stock rubber grip on the left side, you will need to cut it off after you remove the switch housing... it's glued on.
the right side will just slide off after you remove the switch housing..

Just bought the bike ... have the manual for the Dyna I used to have, they didn't have the touring one in stock when I picked the bike up. I'm guessing there's something holding them together (I can see the wire when I lift the top half. What does the manual say about separating them?

The clutch side looks pretty standard ... cut the plastic grip, sand the old glue off, apply new ...

Are there torque settings for replacing the screws? With the plastic housing I don't want to strip.

the housings are metal... they will just seperate when you get both screws out.
when putting them back together, I just screw them in till they are tight, I don't use a lot of torque.
