Have 2k on my 160/80/16 rear E3. Loved it from the minute I hit the first little twist and the first bump. That was 1/4 mile from the shop. Lol. Getting a front e3 next week. I generally put 6 to 8k a season on it. I don't know what life I'll get but a season will make me happy.
for ME....
1) Dunlop Elite-3's.... unless you NEED white Walls,
2) Metzler M880 black wall and white walls... great grip... ok tread life
also, Pirelli, Avon, Continetal, and Michilen all make direct replacement tires. Just make sure the tire you buy, has the same.... or greater load rating
I'm in the same situation. My 402's need to be 86'ed soon. I don't care for the 402's at all. Stuck on the fence with the white-walls too. Thinking of going with Metzlers or Avon tires.. I have some time to ponder..
HMMMM how about a car-tire?
Thumbs up for the E3's here as well. Just replaced my rear E3 and it had 22,000 on it. Front has 12,000 right now and looks nearly new yet.
Damn... Is that typical wear? What kind of mileage are the rest of you getting from your E-3's? That seems to be a popular choice. I like the White Walls but don't need them. If the E-3's are that nice on the twisties, groves and tread life, I'm sure that is where I will be headed...
