Needs some help out there on my issue. I have a 09 FLHT with 3000 miles on it, I took it into the dealer for the ABS software update, which they performed. When I left the dealership I noticed the ABS light was now on. I took it back and they said that they had to call Harley in the states (I am stationed in Germany and have to use a a German dealer), and have them dial into my bike over the internet to have the ECM updated. I took it back another day to have this done and they said that it didnt work the ABS light was still on, so they felt I needed a new ABS module.
They ordered the module and installed it this past tuesday, then they stated that they needed another update before the bike would be ready.
I called back today and they said that the ECM is bad but that my warrenty is voided because I installed a PCV. I installed the PCV after the ABS light came on from the dealer. What should I do?
The PCV should have nothing to do with the ABS of the bike. Can they get away with this? Does anyone have a # I can call at Harley to complain since this isnt a US dealer? Any help would be appreciated.
Man that sucks!! That "voiding the warranty" BS sounds like moco drivel to me.
Anything to get out of being responsible and accountable should be their moto.
I would say call your dealer who you bought it from and see if they will help you.
Good luck.
I had a similar experience with the ABS light on. I also had the PCV installed with Autotune. The sensor went bad on the front. They replaced the sensor and everything is just fine! Sounds though the guys in Germany have no idea what to do and they are just finding a way to get rid of you or make some money!
You need to find out if you have a similar law in Germany like our Magnuson-Moss Act here in the US. Here the dealer can't arbitrarily void the warranty due to an unrelated aftermarket part install. They have to prove it caused the issue to not cover it.
