ok ive got some klock werks super savers on my 09 street glide, now im ready for some fuel management and im going with fuel moto on that one but having trouble deciding what high flow air cleaner to go to. i like the looks of the arlen ness big sucker but not sure about open element and rain. also while im here can i expect the bike to run a bit stronger after doing this? not looking for anything drastic just maybe pull a bit harder and run cooler. thanks for any advice.
I have the Arlen Ness big sucker on my 2010 RK and my wifes 2010 SG Trike. I put the football stock cover back on and everythings fine. I also have Fuelmoto's Jackpot slipons. I'm not going any farther so I went with Niteriders FL-Xieds to enrichen the fuel. Both bikes run great. I checked my plugs to make sure. They look good! JMO
Big Sucker on mine. Its a good setup and with the stock cover on it, no problems with rain. I'm thinking about going to a round cover, but not one that exposes the edge of the filter. Definately expect performance gain. It won't be a hot rod, but will pull better and run smoother and cooler. Can't go wrong with Fuel Moto. Their map on my PC III for my setup works great.
I had the big sucker on mine. Removing it one day for something and found the backing plate was cracked all the way through at the TB. Replaced with a Doherty Power Pacc with the power vents. Very nice piece. If you are spending the money, the Doherty is a bit more but a much higher quality piece IMO.
I had the AN Big Sucker on my 09 RK and loved it. This time around I'm using the SE Heavy Breather, still in the box tho, hope to get it on this weekend. Anxious to feel the difference.
Also have the big sucker and run just the round insert over the outside. So far no issues with rain but due to drought here I have only been in a few light showers.
You can also keep the football as others have said or go with the round harley cover. If you want more flow you could mill openings into the edges of the round cover for a little more air. I was actually thinking of doing that.
They make a round rain cover you can buy to keep the rain out. Do a search as I remember someone posting info on it a month or so ago.
I put the ixed's on at the same time and have about 5k on since then. No issues and the plugs are clean.
