Ness Big Sucker AC or Fuel Moto's AC, what's the difference?
I am getting close to ordering a new high flow air cleaner and have pretty much decided I want the Ness Big Sucker with the Chrome back. I was hoping to hear from someone that actually has this air cleaner. I also plan on getting the PC V from Fuel Motto and noticed they also sell there own AC that looks a lot like the Ness Big Sucker. The Ness brand offers a chrome backing plate but I think the Fuel Motto brand just has a black backing plate. Both of these say you can put the stock AC cover right over the top of them. Could someone that is familar with either or both of these please share their thoughts and opinions. Thanks
I have the fuelmoto one in black. It is a solid quality piece and you don't really see it behind the cover. I too wanted chrome, but they practically give the AC for free when you buy a tuner.
I have the fuel moto ac. Black billet black back plate with the chrome breathers. IMO much better than the Ness garbage. I had it between 2k and 3k miles and went with the pm air cleaner for looks. I will let it go for $80 shipped it costs 159 new from FM . Just putting it out there. Big sucker is garbage IMO had it on my Dyna and doesn't compare to the FM A/ C. Just my 2˘
Both are good units and have comperable results. Just depends on what you want . I would not put down either unit, does not matter to me that Fuel moto sponsors this site. My Indy got PCV programmed from Fuel Moto but like Ness Big Sucker more than Fuel Moto. Get what ya like I have had both and they perform the same to me.
Ness Big Sucker AC or Fuel Moto's AC, what's the difference?
Ness is cast metal, Fuel Moto is Billet. Both of them feed hot dirty oil air back into your engine, compromising performance and engine longevity to satisfy the EPA. (your stock A/C does this also)
I have used both in the past, prefer the quality of the Fuel Moto. However, if you want a better Stage 1 Air Cleaner, take a look at the few that are still out there like the OUTLAW HiFlow 587 Air Cleaner System.
The following video is for the Sportster version, but the principles of why you should only put cool clean air into your engine is the same for your Twin Cam.
I had the AN and now the Fuel Moto and they BOTH drip oil. I pulled the FM one off yesterday because I'm installing lifters and there was an oil line running down the backing plate onto the bottom of the filter.
Since the FM one uses your stock rubber hoses to direct the blow by into the filter area, I'm going to get some copper tubing to slip into the hoses and direct the blow by into the throttle body like I had to do with the AN unit.
The FM backing plate will never crack but it still drips oil from my experience.
