Hi, my shoei FF helmet has done a few miles and its time for an upgrade. Seen plenty of guys on tourers with flipup helmets and they really like em so hoping to get some valuable info on the pro's or cons on them. What do you like or dislike about your flipup, would you buy another of the same brand and is there anything to watch out for before buying ie latches, sealing, weight etc, and would you wear it riding all day. I really liked the snug fit and quietness of my shoei, but 98% of the time I rode with the visor up. I cant explain why I do, but I just do for some reason. Like the idea of being able to have a drink on or off the road without having to pull the helmet off all the time whenever we stop for 5 minutes. Any advice greatly appreciated.
I wear a Fulmer Modus M1. The reason i chose this one is it has the most space between the chin bar and my chin to have a boom microphone. it is not the most expensive helmet but Rider Magazine rated it pretty good..; Steel latches... Lot's of people like the SHoei Multi teck and the Nolan N103 and N43 trilogy...Personal choice also with the fit...
I wear a KBC OFS model, fantastic helmet. You can grab them for next to nothing since they are discontinued. You cannot get a smoked shield for it though, I tried and nobody has them.
Nolan... Very comfortable fit and finish. Can be purchased with or without the bluetooth unit for a reasonable price. Nice helmet. I personally have the N102.
I wear a older Nolan flip up 90% of the time, ALL the time when I hit the road, (so I WON't hit the road).
It's a bit close with the mic with the chin bar down, but 40 years of off raod racing, so I don't even notice it.
This year in Pa. it was HOT, so I've been wearing a open face 3/4 helmet. I gotta tell ya, I feel naked!

I wear a HJC Sumax II. It works very well and I like that I can change the visor out really quickly. I also have a Z1R modular full face that I love, but I dropped it and ended up letting the wife pick out the HJC helmet. My next helmet will be a Z1R, but I'll miss switching out the visors in 10 seconds...
I have a HD flip up and love it. I smoke so its easier at quick stops to flip it up have a smoke or a drink and then get move'n again fast. I also think its easier to put on when the flip up is open if you have glasses on or ear buds on.
