Default Chrome Display Stand Help

I picked up a used Chrome Display Stand. I couldn't get it over the regulator bolts due to the leg angle. I loosened the cap screw opposite the grease zert thinking I could get a little slack in the legs. I heard a loud pop and all tension was gone. Can I replace the spring inside or am I screwed? Called the local dealer and they had no clue. Any help would be appreciated.

never had a display stand but from what you stated you don't have anything to loose. remove the bolt there might be a tab that the spring attaches to and when you tighten the bolt in place it puts tension on the spring. or something to that effect

I've never seen anything for directions for servicing the stand. Here's the pdf for installation. http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J00545.pdf
