I bought a sundowner and changed the vinyl to leather, also have a corbin, my only comment would be get leather.....vinyl makes your ***** sweat too much in the heat....it does not breath....i just got back from Vegas, rented a bike.........what a disaster with the vinyl seat, i was there when a women rider brought back her rental, looked like she peed in her pants!
I've had both and prefer the corbin. As was mentioned, the sundowner puts you a bit closer to the bars, the corbin is much more firm, vinyl for the sundowner and leather for the corbin. My personal experience has been better with the corbin. It is quite a bit more expensive, but when you compare them side to side, you can see where the difference in money went.
I don't ride two up a lot, but when I do the OL is happy with the corbin as well.
I've never had a better seat for putting on miles than the Corbin. I tried Mustang last year, but couldn't quite get used to the riding position. I like a bit more leg room, and the Corbin sits back nicely.
Corbin here as well and I can ride on it all day, you're going to get a bunch of opinions but each one has it's benefits, If you have friends with different seats only way is to sit on them. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
i put a sundowner on my streetglide and took a 700 mile trip. by the time i got halfway through the trip, i was really disappointed with that seat. the foam seemed soft enough to where it felt almost as if i were sitting directly on the seat pan. i'm not heavy, right at 200 pounds, but that seat just didn't work out for me at all. i'm glad i was able to sell the sundowner. after that i got an 09 roadglide seat, and i'm very impressed with it. the roadglide seat is firmer, and doesn't look dorky at all. the 2011 roadglide seats look to me to be the same seat as streetglide seats. corbins are great quality from what i've seen, and most guys swear by them, but pretty pricey to me.
I agree with checking out Mustang as well..fantastic customer service and a great seat.
You may want to give these guys a look also....in the VTX world it seems that everyone is comparing Mustang vs Ultimate.....I have never used an Ultimate seat but a lot of people swear by them.
Another Mustang fan here. I had 'em put a Sundowner on my new 2010 pre-delivery and my OL hated that doamed pillion. Went back to what I had on my old scoot - Mustang solo with a mid-sized pillion for OL.
After a touring and solo Mustang I am much happier with the Sundowner. I've never riden a Corbin but I have sat on one on a buddy's 03 Duece. The Sundowner is softer but its firm and I think it has a similar feel to the Corbin.
