After a touring and solo Mustang I am much happier with the Sundowner. I've never riden a Corbin but I have sat on one on a buddy's 03 Duece. The Sundowner is softer but its firm and I think it has a similar feel to the Corbin.
Personally, the Sundowner was fine for me in front and maybe there are various versions of a Sundowner, so do me a favor please SG. Looks like you have the same version I got (backrest capable, both front and back).
Could you pop off your backrest, stick you fingers into the slot, and let me know if the steel passenger seat-pan only gives room for about 1" of padding for mama?
ETA - hold on...
OOPS - '07 versus '10 - probabally different seats. My bad there SG.

I think that a compromise between the corbin and the HD would be C&C, but I have never had one so I can't say from that perspective.
I know for a fact that the C & C is custom made with what you want in mind, and price wise it is right around the cost of a sundowner, but much less than is the corbin., and it is American made if that means anything anymore.

Yeah I'm sure they are at least some different. Without taking the seat off looks like maybe 3 or more inches of padding for the passenger. Can't really reach the seat pan through the slot cause the backrest bracket is in the way. I think my wife liked the touring Mustang better, a little more padding and a little wider maybe. Also sat her up higher and she could see over/around me easier. It was a comfy seat for me too, but it did sit higher and raised the center of gravity on the bike so much that it really affected the handling for me, so it had to go.
I've put a lot of miles on both. Had and '02 RK and spent 15K waiting for a corbin to "break in" and get comfortable. Never happened. Switched to a Sundowner and things got much better. When I bought my UC, I gave the stock seat a chance, but that didn't work either. Went back to a Sundowner and am very happy.

Wow! This version only has about an inch of pretty damn limp padding back there
Thanks for the look-see SG. Now I'm thinking they changed seat-pan design under the Sundowner pillion area when they refitted for the 2009 frame change... or maybe ever more recently than that. According to mama anyway, the pillion suks big-time.
I bought the Sundowner when I bought my SG. The first trip I took on it was a little more than 500 miles. The seat was new and a little hard. After more riding it got a lot better. I only have it on the bike when my wife rides with me. I was in the 255-260 lbs range and there was plenty of cushion (on my *** too). In the last few months I've lost about 35 lbs and now the seat hurts my *** and tailbone. The seat only has about 2500 miles on it so I know its not worn out. I'm always looking for a good seat.
I actually have and use both. Bike is an '09 CVO Roadglide. I have the Sundowner that I use with my daughter - only one she really likes as a BSR. Then I have a Corbin Solo Close with larger passenger pad and back rest. Both are great for me reaching the ground and both very comfortable for long or short rides. Reason I did the Corbin set up was I really like the option to have solo seat when I want it. Wife is very happy with Corbin or Sundowner.
+1 on the Corbin, I can ride 1000+ a day with no discomfort. You can order your choice of hides if you call direct to Corbin at no additional charge. They will also allow modifications if you need them.
Comparison to stock seat is all I have. I could only ride 80miles with the stock SG seat before my *** was burning.
