Default Tallboy Seat

Just installed the Tallboy on my 2010 Ultra. It was the perfect resolution for my height. Now the canundrum is that I use a HD drivers backrest. No matter how I adjust it (tensioner or at the mounting bracket) it seems to push me forward, loosing the space I just gained.

Anyone dealt with and got past this?

Also, never thought much or less about the passenger grab strap, until now. Left side is a screw, right is a rivet of some sort. Has anyone drilled the rivet out, or the consensus just to cut the strap?

It was my understanding the Tallboy didn't work with the adjustable backrest. Is that maybe the problem?
I'm curious cause I'd like to try that seat.

That may be it. I be damn. I read that it accepted the rider backrest but I damn sure missed that part about the adjustable style back rest. Getting older and more impatient has cost me more than a dollar lately.

Found this ...

Ever wondered, if a harley tallboy seat will fit with the driver backrest? YES! with a little modification.

You have to turn the bracket, install it backwards by 1 hole and assemble a new retainer made of a piece of flat iron. I used a leftover angle iron from a bookshelf. The main task is to drill a hole into the center of the bracket and find a screw which will snuggly fit into it. The old retainer was left in place, one never knows...

I've got this seat on my '09 FLTR and had a Mustang backrest kicking around the garage. I cut & re-welded the support but still had the same experience you're describing. I'll be interested to hear what solutions others have come-up with as I'd really like to have a good backrest.

Ok - I have both, the adjustable and the standard rider's backrest (52572-09A). They both fit, to quell rumors. However, the adjustable was way too far forward (so fit maybe up for discussion). The standard is a much better fit, yet it still moves my torso forward about 1/2 inch. How can this be overcome?

I took my standard back rest apart and heated the two posts with a torch just above where they come out of the seat and bent them back at an angle.

Shot them with black paint and put it back together.

Much Better!
