NO ONE gets my home phone number, unless it's family or friends!!! Same for cell phone number and e-mail address!! The key is to keep your phone number(s) unlisted. Somewhere along the line you have to give them the number/address for them to be able to contact you. When the 'counter dude' asks for a phone number, I just say, "You don't need that to complete this transaction." Usually that's the end of it. Unwanted 'soliciters' get an ear full and rarely call back.

I have old bikes, more than enough and when I go to the dealer its usually to the parts counter. I normally roll up on my 76 FLH which is kick only and tank shift, work pants, work shirt and probably a little bit greasy. The salesmen normally avoid me.

Its been slow in there and they were all standing around. One says to me, "Can I interest you in a new bike?" I politely say, "no sorry, not this time" And he says "We are having a two for one sale on 2010 superglides" to be a smart *** in front of his buddies. So I quickly pull out my checkbook and plop down at his desk and say, "I'll take those two right there" and make my check out to said dealer for the price on the tag....

They don't talk to me anymore

You're right. I'm referring to Earl Smalls HD, but I do get an occasional call from Killer Creek. I've asked ESHD once for them to take me off their list, guess I'll have to see the owner, Mark Hulsey. Ditto on the no call list, no one pays attention to that anyway it seems.

I get mailers from Harley but nothing and no calls from my local dealer, where I bought my bike. I don't answer my home phone anyway (caller ID is a beautiful thing), so it does not matter who calls.

My dealer never bothers me. They always call when my parts are in.
No wise guys in the showroom and good folks in the parts and service departments.

nope..... never got a call...... i do get emails from one dealership..... but i signed up for those.... "My dealership" sends me MOCO offereing via USPS, and MOCO sends me emails.

Phone calls were 1) just after I bought the bike, they wanted to know if I was enjoying the bike, and how they could make the process better.
2) I was having some work done, and the service writer, called me twice... once to let me know, I had a cracked "Y-pipe), and to let me know, the work was completed

It's tough times out there. Dealers are husling to stay afloat. I hate nusance calls just as much as the next guy. Just tell them emails are a better way to get your business.
