No word back on mine yet, everyone must be riding it,told the wrench to ride it home if need be.Yes the bike HAS to be hot before the racket starts. With the weather getting cooler here it may take alittle longer.I feel convident that my noise wont be normal.

I talked to the HD Svc Mgr today about the transmission noise. He said the straight-cut fifth gear is part of the shaft and cannot be replaced separately. That probably means that in two years when the warranty has expired and the gear fails, the entire shaft will have to be replaced. More money for the stealership.

Maybe we'll all get new tranny's out of it.....

I think if it's a big enough problem they'd have no choice but to replace them...

The dynas only became a warranty issue after 2 trans locked up.Nobody got hurt I believe but this is sometimes what it takes for a massive recall.Cost HD millions.

Naw....It'll take out the whole tranny......Probably will happen when you downshift to pass that semi on a mountian highway....Hang on...It's gonna be one hell of a ride....

I don't own an '07, but I don't think I'd want to be one of the statistics that 'forced' The MoCo into recalling the bikes. And as far as the money goes: How much is your life worth? Or your passenger's?

I feel that if there is REALLY a problem with our 07's and we all express this enough, HD will be forced to do something at some point. Hate to say it but if something BIG happens (someone get's killed) and files compaints and or suits with the right people (outside of HD) that will start getting their attention. Is there not a division or complaint source for all to file complaints that will FORCE HD to take action? In the automotive industry I believe there is. Something to check into?

I am more worried about there really being something wrong but the bike won't break till after the 2 yr warranty.... then we'll all be forking up the $$$$ to get it fixed.....

Maybe we should all call and complain during a particular week or a particular day. Overwhelm MoCo's phones with complaints. Surely someone there would raise an eyebrow. Maybe someone could start an online petition in which you have to leave your name and a contact like email. That would help plus would be a good way to notify everyone what day they should make a complaint call.
PROBLEMS DO EXIST! My 07 FLHRCI does make a slight noise in 5th. I wouldn't say it's too loud actually it's bearable BUT it just clatters like hell in 5th and 6th!!. I know people are calling names, like LUGGERS but damn! You wouldn't expect it to be THAT loud. If I'm not going 70 then 6th gear makes the engine clatter like hell. Same thing with 5th under 55.
It's hard to say where the clatter is for me but it sounds LOUD like REALLY loose rocker arms on a solid lift chevy. I don't notice a difference with temps only RPMs. I know better than this but it reminds me of a piston loosely slapping around in it's bore so I shift that sucker!
Once I got about 1000 miles on it I was on my way to the HD dealer I bought it from out of town, for a rally and it started STUMBLING!! Not when opened up on the road but when I hit a small town and a series of 1st gear curves. It was always going from 1st to 2nd that it just fell on it's face and then took off. Like fuel starvation. WHAT THE HELL!!!! this should NOT be happening with a new bike!!
This is the first zero mile HD I bought brand new off a showroom floor. I don't like the idea of unfixable mechanical problems. Or being told "That's just the way it is." I love the bike but it should be "perfect". After all I supplied "perfect"ly good hard earned dollars to buy the damn thing!!!

I'm with ya!! Maybe we should just pick a week and everyone call as much as they can or want to. That way everyone should be able to find a slot to call. I posted a question on a free legal advice forum and was told to have proof of 3 visits to fix the problem and then I can use the lemon law to get a refund. That is my plan, but I would join in on the call the MoCo!

Phone numbers:

I have two numbers for Harley Davidson corporate offices in Milwaukee:

(414) 342-4680
(414) 481-0184

Ask for customer service. You will need the bike's VIN.

Maybe if enough people call they will begin to take notice.
