I've got a tranny problem that isn't about noise but downshifting. Has anybody out there tried downshifting from 2nd to 1st and wasn't able to do it? As in the shifter isn't engaging and it just free-floats down and won't shift to 1st? I took my '07 Dyna for it's first ride today with my buddy who has an '07 Electra Glide and it happened to both out bikes.

Dang! 900$ to fix a problem that's not there! I feel for those few that have a problem but that's insane!

did anybody check out the latest iron works mag. Page 34. Well lookie here. Baker to the rescue. Helical cut replacement gears for the 07's. The complete kit is $900.00 retail. baker says there is a noise problem but harley is still in denial. go figure! Did everyone know that on the early made 06's, you can get a new regulator installed free. Seems the regs are premature to go bad

Naw, I wish I was misscounting my shifts...at least then I'd know that I was driving like a moron instead of wondering what is wrong with my tranny. I'd get to second and then nothing-just a free pedal. I'd try putting it under a little power, revving it up, you name it. It would eventually catch so I could downshift but it wasn't the way it's supposed to be.

Guess I'm lucky, my 07 RG is quiet, thats just a stupid comment from me, I mean sounds normal for a Harley, built in Nov 06. Store owner, a good friend, trains his salesmen to act like they work in a Lexus dealership. Very smart man...
I really like watching old school crowdinteract with the harley 2.0 crowd. Not meant as a putdown just different perspectives/perceptions.
The comments in this thread and the countless other threads about the sky is falling to HD scewed us all are examples. Thanks for the laughs

We just bought our 07 Ultra, the dealer informed us we would hear a slight noise while in 5th gear. He told us this after he asked what kind of bike we had been used to riding (a Goldwing). The noises I hear on this bike is nothing like I was expected to hear as informed by the dealer. What I hear is what I was expecting to hear with the switch from a metric to the Harley. The ride we get on our Ultra as compared to the Wing can only be described as incredible, we love it. As for the noise issue, we have no noise issue. If anyone wants to get rid of their noise issue we have a Goldwing for sale.......

I have been talking with a lawyer about it.
as explained to me.
You file the complaint under your states version of the lemon law.
They are all basically the same.
In mine any automotive vehicle and a motorcycle is one.
in dealers shop three or more times for the SAME complaint in a year.

If you win your suit Hd can of course appeal. so that can drag out.
Let's assume you win and they don't appeal.
Three basic remedies
1. Fix the bike right immediately
2. give you a new bike (they get your old one)
3. buy yours back in the stock configuration for the cost of the entire loan.
That's our states interpretation.
Your chances of winning on your own ????
but if you ban together with 10 or more, same bike(year make model) and SAME issue.
Much better.

When do you get your money back ? Have you used the lemon law on your bike ? Has anyone ?

Dealers are in a bind either way.the MOCO needs to take the brunt of this not the dealers.Unfortunately the dealer takes the lose in the end.Looses business from angry buyers, sales fall off,and lemon laws goes against them.

I traded in my heritage classic on a new electra glide last month. I wanted to do it earlier really like the six speed tranny and the 96 cubic inch motor, but I waited until HD had time to work on the 5th gear problem, they do know about it and admit to it. If you have a early model 07 and have not done the ecu recall do it,that cut the noise in half on a fellow riders 07 plus it ran a heck of a lot better. A few other things you can do, crank up the radio and get louder pipes.

I fixed mine. I rode it 200 miles yesturday with no rattles. I didn't have to buy a power comander, A big sucker or pipes. Just a couple quarts of oil and spend a hour working.
