The only update I've seen is from IronOx--nothing by way of anyone actually installing and hearing a big diff on the #5 chatter. It being so new though I'd expect we'll start seeing some threads trickling in any day.
Thank for the tip on the IDS. My SG has been at the dealer goin' on 3 weeks waiting for them
to decide what they're gonna do about the tranny noise and heat probs. Opened a buy back case
with MO CO. I recommeded Baker parts to them F6F, etc. Of course they won't install them
but maybe they'll put in the IDS at no charge.
Hey PM, can you expand a little bit on what it takes to open a buy-back case with HD? What steps do you have to follow to do that, and how does that work? Do you know ifthere a specific number to call/person to talk to,paperwork to complete beforehand, etc, and how long does the process take? Thanks
You planning on installing yourself or having a shop do it? Just wondering how difficult it'd be.
I don't wrench, I'm letting the dealer do it. I'm having a new rear tire and rear brake pads installed at the same time. I ordered the IDS two days after it was announced. I suspect I'll be one of the first ones in my area to have it installed on an 07' I just don't know when it will arrive. I'm hoping someone else on this forum can beat me to it and post their experience.
I'm pretty new to this, but have been following your thread for about a week now. I finally figured out the IDS stands for Isolated Drive System, but I still have no idea exactly what that is or what it does. Please keep us all posted on what you find out about this. I'm also curious aobut what it cost. Like TJRKC, I would also like to know more about the buy back case with HD is all about...can you fill us in on eht details?
Hey Cap-the kit runs something like 305.00 (unless I transposed and it's 350) and it's in the new accessories catalog. No idea what the labor/time would be, when you look at the part it looks pretty simple and like it could be done in a couple of hours by a good mechanic.
Thanks TJ...I bought my bike in March '07, but have not been able to get the stealer to give me a catelog...guess they don't need my money! They said they would be sending me an '08 catelog later this week...don't think I'll hold my breath, but I will check it out when the catelog gets here.
Thanks again!
