today i removed the tour pack from my 07 flht. i washed and waxed my bike till it was shining. then i started puting every thing back on. please...what is the secret to placing the tour pack back on? i played with it, i fought it and i even blessed it with fleas, but to no avail. my wise son said that the wise and almost all knowing road warriors on this forum would know! so come on creatures of the road.
when i get the two side bars where they are suppose to be i cant get the quick release to lock back up. help me ole wise ones....
if its bolt on I cant give you any help, only removed mine once... yesterday and then I put on the quick detach hardware, today I put the docking kit on the tourpack and did a test fit on the docking points of the bike... if its got the quick detach setup I still cant give you any tips but can tell you its a darn tight fit! the front docking points I have to squeeze the bracket on the tourpack in together, then to get the rear docking points on I have to pull the brackets on tour pack apart spreading them a bit... Just put it on stood back admired my work then took it back off... geesh feel like I been in a fight trying to get it on. I know this probably wasnt any help, but its my story and I'm stickin t it.
My tour pack goes on pretty easily if I get the front rack mounting points into the circular receivers in the docking hardware. Then I just rest the moveable parts on rear docking points momentarily while I line of the detachable latches. Once they are lined up, the box just sort of sets down on the rear docking point.
If you are having difficulty, get a hold of the installation instructions for the docking hardware and check that the docking stuff has been installed correctly. HTH.
Hmmm something is not on right, I never have to remove my bags to install or remove my tourpack. On the rear docking point on the bike there are two holes, I used the most forward one, not sure what the rear one is for.
OK, first make sure you didn't accidently bent the bracket "C" ends in front. Slide the tour pack on and make sure the "C" ends are seated. The lock bracket end needs to be seated on the bushing with the bushing pushing the releas button up. Sometimes you have to push from the side to seat the lock mechanism. Once seated the lock will rotate to the locking postion. Saddle bags do not have to come off.
