Do you tend to get a lot of helmet buffeting on the highway with the 3/4 helmets
with face shields? I currently use a 1/2 helmet but with it getting colder, I'd like to
go to something a little warmer on the highway. I'm thinking full or 3/4 with the
face shield.
I used all three sizes and never had any problems as long as the helmet fit correctly. If it's a little loose it can be quite annoying when it catches the wind the wrong way. If you go full face, I'd reccommend one that allows you to open the shield a bit in case it starts to fog.
I have a 3/4 with flip up shield that I use about 9 months of the year. No trouble at all with the shield down, but above about 50 mph with the shield up I get some vibration.
I have the 3/4 HD Jet helmet. I don't get any jiggling at all but I am behind a tall windshield. When I have ridden loaner RK or Heritage, I noticed more buffeting. A full face is probably the way to go on a RK. I love the flip shield though. I leave it up in the hot weather up to about 65 then put it down so it will vent my face.
I have a Shoei J-wing 3/4 helmet, and am very pleased with it. There is a slight buffeting over 65 mph, but it's not severe enough to blur my vision. My winter hat is a Shoei RF1000 that has good ventilation and no buffeting. I'm on a Street Glide with a 6.5" windshield.
