What is so risky about obeying the law especially when it comes to being on the highway? What is so risky about having a license, insurance, obeying speed limits, stop signs, and all other traffic laws? There is nothing risky about obeying the law. Do you teach your kids to pick and choose what laws they should obey? The kid is 15. He has no license. Maybe he can ride, maybe he can't. A license at least shows he has a certain degree of proficency that was judged by someone besides his parents. How can he possibly have insurance when he isn't even old enough to have a license or be the rider? How many underaged motorists do you know that have insurance? If anything, I'd think any insurance on the bike would be voided by letting a unlicensed, underaged kid ride it. I can't think of a single instance where I told my kid that it was OK to break THIS law or THAT law or where I encouraged her to do so.
Obviously you haven't been on Hwy 80/94 thru the Chicago area.
Doing the speed limit will get you killed and that is not a joke.
You either keep up with the flow, or take the side roads.
The "flow" is easily 10 - 15 miles over the limit.
I think that you are making the right decision on this one. Are these folks good enough of friends that you can have an adult conversation about it? Someone needs to look out for this kid.
That poor kid's father is the only douchebag in this situation. What an irresponsible idiot!
This statement sums up my thoughts. You need to pick your friends better. When I was younger my parents would let me ride my bike up and down the street to learn. Never would they count me in on a 500 mile trip without a license. I wouldn't get caught up on the whole cc thing because a 250 cc would outrun a 883 anyway. LOL.
I'm sure all the kids friends think he's got the coolest parents around...fact is that the kid has no parents!!!!!!!
He's got irresponsible adults who treat him as a "buddy". The kid isn't learning chit cause the "parents" ain't teaching him chit.
It isn't a parents job to be their sons "buddy," it's to teach them right from wrong. This is wrong.
My 19 yr old son has started "thanking me" for things that he didn't understand before.
It isn't the kids fault, he's just a kid. The parents are stupid which can't be confused with ignorant...they know it's illegal and still allow it.
