I'll get my switch installed and send some pictures when I do. I'm going to use a stock harley toggle on the fairing (have 1 open spot and an extra switch from when I installed my passing lamps). I'm going to use some of the posts here to wire it so the light comes on when the switch is on.
The only way I know of to have the light come on when you turn the switch on and use it with a PCV is to use a relay. The switch applies 12V to the coil of the relay and the contacts of the relay are wired to the PCV.

I use the light on position of the switch for my economy mode. Mine is plugged into the accessory plug.

If you were to use electric cold weather gear, you may want to wire it so it's in economy mode with the switch off. That way it would be in economy when it was cold enough for you to need electric gear. At those temperatures you can use all the engine heat you can get so you might as well run it leaner.

I ordered enough connectors to build several a year ago. If there is any interest I could build some more. The connectors are really pricey, but it helps to order 10 or more at a time.

I sold the extra ones for $19.95 with $5 S/H.

It's not real profitable, but I like doing things like that.

Here's what I've worked out so far. I am using a relay to close the switch for the PCV. I'm using an extra "spot" switch that I had available. Here is the wiring diagram that I have drawn up. I will post pictures of the actual install once complete.

Radio Shack Parts List
- 12VDC/30A SPST Automotive Relay
Catalog #: 275-226
- 18g stranded wire (red/green/black 3 pack)
- 1/4" Fully Insulated Quck Disconnects (10-pack)
Catalog#: 64-3131
- 4-Position Female Polarized Connector
Catalog#: 274-234
- 4-Position Male Polarized Connector
Catalog#: 274-224
- Wire Tap-In Squeeze Connectors (10-pack)
Catalog#: 64-3052

Do you have pics of what you made up. Sounds reasonable the way you did it. I'm not in a rush, but this is one of those things that I wanted to do.

Thumbs up

The Fuel Moto maps I've seen that are tweaked for mileage have simply reduced fuel 5% in the cruise range, primarily between 10-20% TP. IMO with an oil cooler installed you can go -10% in this area, tapering it from 40-60% and keeping 80-100% as original. I would suggest something like this:

TP..........Change from original without/with cooler
-------------------------------------------------------
5.......... -5 / -5
10..........-5 / -10
15..........-5 / -10
20..........-5 / -10
40..........-3 / -6
60..........-2 / -3
80.......... 0 / 0
100........ 0 / 0

Example: If the original value at 2000 @ 15% TP is 15 and you want to reduce fuel 5%, change it to 10. To change a group, select (highlight) the values you want to change, then when you type the new value all selected cells will change. Based on what I'm seeing with my Auto-Tune trims, reducing fuel 10% should put AFR's near stock (14.6).

When using the map switch, use the leaned map for one map and the original for the other, as FM's original map should be very good for cooling. I went a bit further with mine, setting up my base map for 13.5 in the cruise range, then letting AT trim to 14.6. FM typically sets the cruise range for 13.7 from 2500-3500 and 5-20% TP. On a 300 mile ride Saturday in 80° weather and using E10 gas I got 49mpg with oil temps staying at 190-195° while moving >50mph, and front CHT running ~225°. IMO these are good numbers that I'm very happy with. I ran my lean switch setting the whole day.

iclick,
Thanks for the info. That was exactly what I was looking for. I emailed FM over the weekend requesting a map set up for fuel economy, so I will compare what you suggested I do to what they send me. I knew it was a matter of adjusting the values slightly, but wasn't sure how much to adjust. I plan to add an oil cooler next year, so I will know now how much further I can change them after the install.
