Default Mid controls on FLHT

Im find Im in a very large minority in that I much prefer the foot positioning of mid controls v the slightly forward bias of the stock floorboards. Ive checked this forum and the internet and so far havent found anyone who has attempted to move the boards back an inch or two.

How about it has anyone done this. As a point of reference Im thinking about where the foot position is on a Dyna w/ mid controls.

Maybe its my early start on sportbikes, then BMW's but mid controls just seem more natural and comfortable to me. Otherwise love my 05 FLHT

Easy to do. I used a piece of Sq. Tubing than cut out the back side so it was a U shaped item. Than shape to fit the frame. Make sure you have the exhaust on than find a place you wish to have them, Make sure the opposite one is in line and not like OCC and their quality builds done with sledge hammers and no pre planing,

Figure out what you are going to do with the rear MC as it is now gone from the front. Done it along with cutting the neck off of the front than dumping the goose neck. I am using forks forward of the steering stem and kept the 26* neck rake. Reduce the wheel base by 3 1/3 inches C to C of axles. Using 16" C/F wheels, inverted forks, 320mm rotors and Brembo radial mount calipers. Threw in a worked over 124 CI S&S & 6 speed.

Bottom line is I like mid control;es. Better than laying on your wrists, forward controls which is a death trap, and the second best (IMO) is floor boards for long distance riding. THe best overall would be 2 position.

Do you have any pictures? I can tell you right now thats way beyond my abilities which are almost nothing mechanical wise. I was hoping there was a kit out there, but it sounds like you customized yours. Thanks for the information either way

I also like the leg position of mid controls. You ever think of getting very long floorboards, like banana boards that way you could shift your feet back while touring. Hope this helps

longer floorboards might do the trick, are bannana boards the only style of longer floorboards?

Don't have them, so I can't speak for the quality; but, I do have their ISO wings for highway pegs, and those are top-knotch.
