Take the cover off the primary to fill it, get a manual, that will help a lot.

Be a torx on the left lower side to the rear a bit and if I remember right a #30. Have to pull the cover to fill and usually around 30 ounces.

get a manual it will save you a lots of money & time in the long run. On the old bikes you can find them at a swap meet at a good price.

Do not over fill the primary it will make the clutch act funny.

There is a magnetic hex head drain plug in the 6 o'clock position directly below the derby cover (round clutch inspection cover). The primary is filled through that derby cover and requires 38-44 oz. Fill the primary with the bike upright (not on the side stand) until the level comes up to the metal ring on the clutch pack. If you haven't done this before find someone who has and have them show you what is needed. ATF works great in the primary.
Don't forget to inspect and/or adjust the primary chain adjuster behind that other funny shaped inspection cover in the center of the outer primary cover. It should have 5/8"-7/8" of slack cold (as opposed to hot 3/8"-5/8").
The transmission takes 20-24 oz. Put 20 oz. in and check the dipstick. Add more until the full mark is reached. Any GL5 - 70/80 or 75/90 gear lube really smooths out the Evo gearbox.
Good luck finding a Service Manual. If you go to the Evo section of this forum you might just get lucky.
