That's very true! 
But when 2-up and loaded for that big tour it is easy for rolling weight to reach half a ton. When that lot goes round a bend and hits a bad patch of road, the rider and passenger are going to hope they come out of the experience intact and blessing the bike, rather than cursing it!
Fitting quality tyres, top class shocks and a stabilizer kit are all ways of improving the riding experience and staying on the road.
