Default fork slider swap revisited....

After studying the SM and spending many, many hours reading the various threads on this great forum, I worked up the gumption to install some powder coated sliders on my 2007 Road King Custom. I made a tool to take out the 6mm bolt (thanks to dawg) but I wound up rounding out the hex head. I then drained the forks through the screws and took them out of the triple trees. I took the forks to a mechanic friend who took the 6mm bolts out with an impact driver. I then replaced the fork seal and put the slider back on. I reinstalled new 6mm bolts and drain screws. I did not do anything with the split ring thing or anything else. I think I am ready to put the forks back in the trees, add oil, and button up. Am I missing anything? There have been so many informative posts about this that I get confused and think I am forgetting something. Can one of you guys assure me that I am good to go? Your help has been, and is greatly appreciated.

Barry
PS: My J&S jack is another tremendous idea that I got from this forum. My King is sitting on it without the front end and it is rock solid without any straps.

Did you put oil seals back in the top and then install the retaining ring over that?

Yes, I replaced the fork seal with the PVC tool that I made according to your instructions. I also put the clip back in. After thinking about it I guess I should put the oil in before I put the forks back on the bike. That way I can compress the forks to help "settle" the oil. My bike takes 11.1 oz. I did not fool with that split ring or any of the other things you mentioned. That is why I am concerned I may have forgotten something. BTW - thanks for the great write up. I studied it for hours. I have also gotten a lot of other valuable info from your many threads. You are an invaluable member of this forum.
