Just installed this weekend...started out being a bitch, but I slowed down and took my time and all is good. I used two small pieces of cable, like you would find on a garage door opener. Cut the cable to four foot lengths...once you get the first piece of cable thru, you're in good shape. I pulled 3 wires at a time along with the next piece of cable. It takes some patience, so only install when you have plenty of time. I didn't use anything as far as a lube, the cable slid thru without any problems. You will love the results...I sure do!

2011 Ultra Limited: Installing the wires was big pain, when I got the 12" Yaffe Monkey bars I assumed they were ready to go, that was a mistake, everywhere there is was an opening or connection of the pipe had burrs that cut the wires. The best thing to do is get an air grinder with a long extension and break as many of sharp edges as you can. I used a die electric grease to coat the wires for installation. On the right side I tried to pull both the throttle controls with the other cable and that did not work out, I wound up putting a section of 1/2" heat shrink over the green connector on the throttle control, installed it first and then pulled the other larger bundle of wires. One other thing, DO NOT put the extension wires on before running, I purchased the LA Chopper extension kit and the connections were so long I damaged several. The last time I installed I disconnected them before running the bundle and solder after I pulled through, there was roughly 4 inches of the original wiring pertruding through the middle port of the bars, plenty of room to add the extensions. Don't forget to purchase the additional throttle extension wires as they did not come with the kit.

I just did my third set of MBB. I have been able to pull wires though in 15 minutes or less on them. What I do is cut all the sheath off both side but I leave about 4" at the top, next I use conduct lube and coat the wires really good, then I use .035 weld wire spiral wrap it about 3" up the wires then I just do the push pull.

I'm installing a set of 14" PYO monkey bars on my 07 RK Classic. I have to extend the wires to get them through the bars, do I just solder the wires together and heat shrink them or do I use butt connecters? What is best

I know this thread was started a while ago, but thanks for the info everyone. It seems like being patient is 90% of the battle with these bars. I can stretch my patients for a while to cope with the 10 labor quote I got from the Dealer. They had the gall to tell me that they "had not heard of anyone successfully installing these bars on their own".

I am very interested in these bars. have heard alot of horror stories running the wires. I also almost bought a set, then learned that because mine is a cvo with hydraulic clutch it will be 12 weeks. Why dont they put this on their website

???---Why? Does the hydraulic clutch internal? Is there a notch somewhere? What needs to change on bars?

So wait...
Before reading this thread I was sure I had to buy a wiring extension kit (such as those available from Namz) when going with 10" MBB's... Do we have to extend the electrical wiring or not? I understand that the TBW connector should probably be soldered, or replaced by the CVO TBW (32310-08), but what about the rest?

Clutch and brake lines can be relocated and made to work from what I've read, unless doing a tight turn to the right... I can live with that in the short term until I get an extended clutch line.

Thanks,
