Default Throttle sticking

Yesterday I got pounded with rain for 2 straight hours and noticed my throttle would stick in place when I released my hand. I thought it might be due to the amount of rain so the next morning I checked it, still happens. I will be bringing it in to get fixed but just wondering if anyone else experienced their throttle sticking. BTW, just had my 5K service done so maybe they did something then and I just never noticed it.

Have you checked the throttle tension screw? It's a little plastic star on the bottom of the housing.

I've had that happen on my 09 EG. Took it to dealer while still wet and sticking. After making sure I had the correct end play, the tech advised me to take it apart when I had time and lube. Since then I have not gotten wet so I don't know if its fixed or not. Guess I should hose it down.

The handgrip has a lip that rides inside a groove in the switch housing. When they bind, it does stick like that.

Lossen up the switch housing screws and you will notice right away that the handgrip turns easier, then thighten up the screws a little on the top and a little on the bottom until you can get them thight without the rubber flange bindidng.

Regards,

Finally got out in the garage to fix this and it turned out to be the TBW mechanism INSIDE the handlebars. I had to pull it out as much as I could, grease it up with white grease, then work it out. Finally got it springing back like it should. While in there, I greased up inside the grip and all is back to normal.

????? How could it be the sensor in the bar??? It dosn't move.... The only thing that moves on the sensor is the gear that goes into the grip and whatever is inside the sensor body... Nothing should move inside the handlebars....

?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????

I checked my 2014 limited to see why my throttle started to stick. turns out the "crampbuster_ type I put on is the problem. I took off the "buster" unit and the throttle snapped back normally. I hope the folks who make these units make one with a bit weaker grip as I find my hand cramping after an hour or two of city/suburban driving. I was thinking of butting mine in the oven with a larger bar inside it to see it I could "stretch" my unit.

Same thing happened to my Ultra Classic after a 8 hour trip in the rail... what ended up happening was the throttle cable got gummed up within the cable line housing. Shot some electrical grade lubricant (electrical grade so that there is no residue) and solved the problem immediately. Throttle never felt better! Cheap and easy fix!

some had had trouble with the inner mating gear of the Krapkin grip coming loose and sticking the throttle, or no-throttle.

if you have one of these take it off your bike
