Default GPS Zumo interface HELP!

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US

Before I buy the part ($120 from Zanotti) I want to make sure it will work. Does anyone have experience with this interface. Will it work with my Zumo 550 or does it only work with the newer 660 and 665?

Thanks.

Only works with the HD branded Zumo's (660 & 665's) (Road Tech)

I added a link to the HD part. Take a look. It allows you to hook up your GPS to the stereo without using the front AUX port. It's really just an expensive way to hide the wiring.

I'm also looking at the iPod interface which will allow me to hide my iPod in the glovebox and control it from the handlebars. That part is $320 from Zanotti. (OUCH!)

The interface is actually more involved than just a way to hide the wiring and keep the aux input on the front open. It is "designed" to allow the HD branded 660 or 665 to fully integrate into the factory system, just as a factory GPS system does in a new car.

I have not personally dealt with one, this is just information I have gathered, so I can speak personally about the product.

I did read something about it was designed to be used with the fairing mount, not the handlebar mount. Once again, I have not been able to verify that information, simply relaying what I read.

I would like to find out more about the product because I may be in the market in a month or two when I am ready to buy the 665. Had others, just want to have something designed specifically for motorcycles.

It may work for your 550. It appears that it connects to the speaker out line from your GPS and then "listens" for output from your GPS through the output line.

Sound like this will be a $120 gamble to see if it will work with my 550. If not, I will wait to buy a 660 when & if the price comes down a bit. With HD controlling the price, that might be a pipe dream. May have to buy one from Chicago HD at 20% off.

In the meantime, I can always mount my 550 and use the AUX plug.
