you are not stuck having the dealer do the work and if you use SE street legal parts ie street legal slip ons, street legal a/c upgrade and street legal down load you are good to go, altho I doubt these street legal enhancements will amount to much other then a a lighter wallet

Their just a bunch of greedy bastages that sooner or later will drive the customer to another brand. If Harley would actually produce an engine that made decent power there wouldn't be much need to crack into it and they know it.
bought a 500 hundred dollar starter from Rossmeyers and it was no warranty cause i wouldnt let them install

At the court date the Dealer must show up with experts that will establish the cause of failure. Rarely does that ever happen
You're filing the case. The dealer is under no obligation to make your case. There responsibility is solely to dispute whatever evidence you present during the proceedings. Will the judge actually have the knowledge to know if a cam is responsible for a poorly running engine? Tend to doubt it. While the dealer might show up with someone with knowledge in that area..a service tech perhaps? Are you going to show up with someone with a level of credibility to document how the same part could have no effect?

The act is fine for those with the resources to prove no direct link. A new seat or brake pads having no effect? Slam dunk. A cam ? Might be a tough sell.

As stated over and over, your warranty chances are greatly impacted by your dealers willingness to go to bat for you with Harley. For the mods on my 2010 I opted to use SE parts and have the work done at a larger dealership with a good reputation (I feel that I have improved my chances for a favorable outcome related to the high performance work).

At the end of the day, as with all performance enhancement work, I realize there is some risk I will end up having to pay for repairs if something fails. This is a risk I was willing to take for the improved performance.

I just bought wheels for my 06 Street Bob from the dealer and I will probably install them myself (no warranty on this bike anyway). By doing some business with the local dealer (when the price is right) I hope in the end there will be a dealer to get parts and necessary service from convenient to my home. As posted in another thread, if you don't like the dealers attitude, pricing, service don't trade there. Go where you get the price and service you like (but don't whine about the local HD shop not giving you any warranty related help when problems arise from work you had done elsewhere).

Your partially right, the sensor BS could have been avoided with a PCV. But I do know the HD rep has flagged warranties of bikes that have been found to have a PCV on them. Its a vicious circle, damned if you do and damned if you don't. I think the consensus is there are dealers with owners and service managers who will go to bat for the customer and also run interference for the customer and then there are dealers who will do a George Washington on the customers *** with the Mother ship, " I cannot tell a lie" the customer has modified their bike or trike.

On the other hand there are "HD Dealers" who sell PC-V's too FWIW, in case you didn't know.
I will not mess around with a Sert, Sept or even an Oct. LOL!! and be bent over by the dealer every time I turn around.

I ask the dealers how to address the heat issue on the newer bikes,
and you know what they say?
They run hot, that's normal.
Yeah, exactly, No BS there either.

Forget about that stinkin' warranty. (Ya gotta fight for every claim anyway).
Stay away from the dealer and he won't be able to "bend you over".

I threw my warranty away within 30 days of buying the bike. Cam, 103, heads, the works.
Guess what? It don't run hot (like the dealer told you "they all do").
It rides like the perfect bike for me! It's been 2 wonderful years already.

I have addressed the heat issue with the Oil Bud Cooler.
It was expensive, but what isn't these days?
I just have an issue with some of the negligence of some of the wrenches that work on your stuff, always have had. I can give examples....
On the warranty thing, I have been given a new front tire, but that's peanuts to what some of ya'll have got. I guess that I get treated alright at the dealership where I live here in the Black Hills.
