The fairing on my RG is offset to the left. The radio mount is canted to the left and down a bit. I'm getting alot of lip service from the dealer and I am at wits end. Anyone else with this problem?
Try having the dealer put it on the lift, then get the ol' bubble level out and check right-to-left. One could measure tip of fairings to the ground, too. The ignition switch is offset from center a bit.....that might be part of what you are seeing.
Check it against another RG......'04 and later..........they changed the angle of the fairing in '04? Maybe '03.
If it comes up crooked on your measurements the fairing may not be seated in the frame brackets just right. That would be another first, because it's a very positive fitment.
I agree - the inner connects with 4 bolts to the bracket that is attached to the frame... if either of these are off - the brackets on the engine guard will NOT line up right?? weird, I am going with the handle bar guess and that is all it is a GUESS...
I think something is wrong where the fairing mounts behind the headlights. I don't think it is where the mounting bracket mounts to the actual frame. I finally got the Lead mechanic to look at it and he sees the problem. He says he is going to pull off the fairing and check it out. Wish me Luck!
There are two hook slots just above the headlamps (on the inside) that hang on two small hooks that point forward from the frame mount basket (for lack of better word(s)). THese hooks can be a MF to get lined up and if someone gets impatient, it is possible that they could get only one of the two properly attached. I have never seen this, but it would certainly cause the situation you are describing. It would be difficult to get the rest of the bolts installed, but I suppose it's possible.
If this is the problem, it is a result of improper assembly and that is one step that is performed at the dealership. THey "may not tell you" if they actually F'd up when installing it...
Corn, the hooks inside the fairing are for the fairing outer panel only. If your radio is off centre, then the fairing inner is cocked sideways and needs to be adjusted relative to the fairing mounts and frame.
