Dropped mine about 7 times during first two months I had it. All in my back yard getting use to the weight and balance...

Dropped it once more about 6 months later, when the wife and I returned from a short 50 mile ride. (Wife doesn't like long rides.)

Then, just yesterday morning almost another 6 months later, I was taking a ride around the block to check some vibration I was trying to eliminate...
Was in center lane on 4-lane when I was approaching a stop light, I changed my mind about going straight and moved over into the right lane to make a right turn. Light was red, and I was approaching relatively slow. As I got up to the light, it was still red, and I was positioning the bike (as I rolled to a stop) for the right hand turn. I must not have been paying attention, as I had too much front brake applied for the stop. And as you could imagine with the front wheel turned slightly to the right and to much front brake, I felt it going over. Had to be the funniest thing the cars behind me ever saw...

I felt like keystone cops or something, the way I was falling so slowly! I wasn't wrestling the bike as it almost felt like I could regain control of it. But...

Me and the bike just kept on going further and further down, ever soooo slowly. The ol' man's muscles ain't what they used to be!

A light scratch on each the front engine guard and front bag guard, and a stretched bicep. No ego bruise, as I know this is my 9th soft lay down, and I'm waiting on number 10 now. At least I can say this was my first 'public' lay down...

Try not to beat yourself up about the dropping deal. Not too many guys here can boast that they havent done the same. As to the handling issue, might just be a bit paranoid. Although, just make sure your tire pressure is ok.

Dropped mine 3 times the 1st two weeks I owned it and haven't had any problems. You're probably thinking "surely I've messed something up", and you're looking for a problem that really isn't there.

There may be a problem. When mine was new I parked it where a friend told me in his garage. An hour or so later he changed his mind & he decided to move my bike. I heard the alarm, but just figured he was settin' on it or something. A few minutes later he came in & told me he had dropped my new bike! After our discussion HE was unstable & walked funny for a few weeks......

Lay it down slowly , on the OTHER side, that'll balance it out....Mine's been on both sides, you be hard pressed to do major damage in a 'soft' lay down..Ride like you stole it!

Dumbest thing I ever did. ...on a bike that is..

I was sitting dead stopped on the bike, and putting on my Gerbing gloves. I dropped one on the ground. Well, ..might was well just bend down and pick it up right? ...LOL!

I could have picked it up, I had to pick up my Valkyrie once so I know I could pick up the EGC, but there was a guy just getting out of his pick-up and he came over and gave me just enough more muscle to get her back up. No damage or even a scratch.

.....but I sure was kicking myself in the butt.

Just wondering, but is the bike loaded in such a manner as to cause it to have a bit more weight to one side?
