It's EXTREMELY unlikely that you damaged anything but your pride. I've gently laid down my Ultra too many times to remember. My buddy's have started calling me 'Tilt"
Just got back from the return trip and was nice to see so many folks taking the time to write. After 667 miles, mind you, most of it on the slab, my take is that the front end turns in more on it's own on a left turn, and it wants to go right going to a full stop. That part leads to some weird weight shift, obviously, that I have to be on the lookout for. The left hand turning is something that my Virago did, it's not like the smooth turn arc from just two days ago. It actually 'turn's in on me when turning, that's my take. I'm gonna let someone at the dealership ride it tomorrow and go from there. Full report tomorrow or Tuesday. Heebe geebies or no.
It's probably a combination of all things suggested here in this thread, but I actually drove into the dealership parking lot this afternoon and continued out the back driveway, never stoping in. Reason was, on the way over, while I still feel some lower speed instability that wasn't there a week ago, I felt it wasn't enough of an issue to bother anyone considering I've got a 5,000 mile checkup coming up in a little under or over 400 miles. I supposes I can have steering bearings and such checked out at that point. Other than that, life is very good on an FLHP and I'm going to settle down and simply enjoy this incredible machine and the amount of unassuming soul it has for the remainder of this season. Many folks complain about the lack of sound coming out of these pipes. Not me, this thing just purrs along and barks when it needs to. Thanks for all the replies. I'll chime back in about 400 miles or so. Peace.
During your check up make sure they look at the front tire, if you still have the d407 you might have some cupping, if so they will replace for no charge, glad all is well.
Thanks Steamchicken, today that's exactly what i did. One of the mechs. took it for the requisite 15 mile ride and thought everything checked out ok. Pretty cool dude and experienced rider who runs the parts department came out for a smoke and said it was the right thing to do, getting it checked out, just for the sake of mental clarity and a good night's rest. Pretty cool to have folks at a dealership who 'get it'.
Yep, just gotta shake the "tipsy's" otta your head. Slow drop - bike's probably 100% fine. If it can't take this type of punishment, then time for HD to go back to R&D.
