Default Opinion on Grip Size

I was all set to order some black PM Renthal grips and then read here on the forum they were smaller diameter than the HD ones. I would guess that fatter grips provide more comfort b/c the hand doesn't have to contract as far to hold on. On the same token, the PM Renthals get excellent feedback. I'm curious for those who have used larger diameter (like 1.5 inches) vs. something like then Renthals what you think on grip size.

Ya' know - it's not the size that counts . . . (least that's what they say)

The majority of bikes, all around the world, use 7/8" diameter handlebars, but Harleys use 1". So setting aside debate on comfort, if Renthall make grips for Harleys they will say so, but if they don't, they won't fit.

On the triumph I just sold I added a piece of foam that went over the grip to increase the diameter and it helped so I guess the Renthals are out. On the cool sac grips, does anyone have a picture. I've seen the website but I'd like to see them on the bike.

I have been using the cool sac cruise control style for the last four years. As others have said, great comfort, no more numbing hands, vibration elimination. There is so much area for your hand you hardly have to apply any pressure.

I've always fallen back on the comfort and added control that I've gained with the Kuryakyn ISO 1 1/2" grip. Yeah, a lot of people have them. There's a reason for that. They make them in black now!
