Default Transmission Oil

I am wondering if anyone has had any luck eliminating some of the shifting "clunk" especially going front neutral into first gear when using different lubricants such as Amsoil or other brands?

I installed a hydraulic chain tensioner on my 02 Softail. After the shifting was quiet and smooth. Newer models now come stock.

Synthetic gear lubes in my opinion make shifting better especially finding nuetral.
What year is your bike?
If it is older than 07 or 06 Dyna proper primary chain adjustment is necessary or go with
HarleyGoodies suggestion.

Switched to Mobil 1 Gear oil in trans, and M1V in the primary that helped with clunk and noise, I just put teh SE comp on and it dam near feels liek a Jap bike now.

You wanna avoid the clunk, then when you stop your bike at the end of a ride, put it in first, then when you start it up, start it w/the clutch in and you will never have the clunk, simple enough...

switched to redline and it is much better

I agree with the Redline. You will notice a difference in the smoothness of your transmission once you transition to the red stuff.

I use Mobil 75/90 GL5 in both my '06 StreetGlide and the wife's '07 Heritage. Smoothed both of them out but did nothing for the clunk and bang on that '07. Gonna put an SE compensator on the Heritage to see if that'll stop the clunk and bang. My EVO (1995) shifts far smoother and quieter - really miss it when I ride my TC's.
