I bought a fairing for my R King Classic. I want to install a inner shell that ONLY has Places for the radio and speakers. Does anyone know where I can purchase such a replacement part like this? THANKS
The stock Harley fairing are all pretty much the same. the all have opens for gauges 2 x 4" and 4 x 2". There are several post on the forme where these have been converted to a stereo only fairing where the put a couple of small speakers in the 4" gauge hole and plugged the smaller holes.
As far as someone making an aftermarket replacement inner fairing for the stock HD outer fairing there is none.
There are tons of aftermarket fairings selling from a couple of hundred to a couple of thousand.
Here a link to the one I purchased and I have had over a year with no problems and it is very good quality. as with 99% you will have to have it painted and put you own equipment in it.
If your looking for something pretty close to complete check with Woody's Fairing (He a Member of the fourm) and will build pretty much to any phase of completion and has good pricing.
Well thats what I was starting to believe was the only option. Extra Speakers and plug the rest. Thanks for the info Texas Rapier. And BTW, I be in Texas to.
if you are going to mount this on your RK - I am thinking you may have other issues, like you need the inner of course and then that brackets that the inner attaches to and the list goes on???
Your cruising right down my alley with this project; my bike was once a Road King Classic, but has since been transformed to what is now more of an Electra/Ultra glide of sorts. Read my posts and you can decide for yourself how far you can take your project.
There are many ways you can utilize the stock cut outs in the OEM inner. I moved my gas gauge up to the fairing, and also added the volt and oil temp gauges. The air temp gauge is a dummy right now, but will soon be replaced with most likely an oil temp gauge. I have also thought about removing those two and adding tweeters. Where the speedo and tach would go I used those holes for 2-4" speakers. I'd be glad to help with any info or questions you have. Shoot me a PM if you have any.
