Default 2009 RK Aux switch help

I am trying to install a cig lighter receptacle under the left side cover. I have identified the Aux switch connector and hot and ground wires. I removed these 2 wires from the Duescth connector. When I tie the red to the power wire and the black to the ground wire of the receptacle the fuse in the power adapter for my GPS blows. Same thing happens if I tie red to power wire and ground the ground wire. Where am I going wrong.

Thanks

There are a couple of deutsch connectors in very close proximity and just about everyone gets it wrong first time so best to start by making sure you have the correct connector. How many wires are going in to the connector and what colours?

Got it! Had the polarity reversed. Sometimes I just gotta walk away for a while.

Thanks

good to hear you sorted. Just to be sure, there should be 1 off orange/red and 1 off orange, as opposed to orangex2

orange/red is live when ignition is on

orange is live when ignition is on AND accessory switch is activated
