They're definately different. Of course, coming off the Roadie after 10 yrs and that many mods/miles it felt like a form fitting glove compared to swinging a leg over the new Ultra. I didn't feel as comfortable ergonomically. The Roadie is longer and stretched out more and set up the way I wanted.
At first I felt like I was sitting "atop" the Ultra instead of "in it". After several 1000 miles on the Ultra I took the Roadie out...due to seat height and grip position differences, the Roadie felt like a chopper with apes in comparison....lol
Both handle n ride great. The Ultra has its obvious touring benefits and surprised me how well it handles the twisties, very nice for a decked out bagger with fairing.
Like all mods, a couple miles on em and you adjust eh.

Love them both!

Hoping all the wind protection amenities on the Ultra will make those cold Michigan winter rides a bit more tolerable!

I will declare loud n clear however, changing out the oil filter on the Roadie has to be 10 times easier than on the Ultra...lol Ya see that chrome filteron the Roadie? Furthest most foward and lowest point of the engine...as in "nothing below it to hinder you. Can grip with 2 hands and twist on n off and no drips or trays to mess with. Yamaha definately got that part down perfect.

Had a 05 102ci Roadstar. Did the Baron mods. Faster than my Ultra but I like the Ultra more.

The yamaha does look like a harley...if you put a hand over 1 eye and squirt lemon juice in the other. Just kidding. Good lookin rides. The E.G. had 38 miles on it?! Left-over, demo or private sale?
