How to return to stock
I'm brand new to this forum and I believe and hope that I will become a frequent poster here and also hope be able to share my own info and experiences.
I have a new to me 2000 Ultra Classic that has had some prior work done on it that included a few trips to Harley to have tuning work done. I have the SERT that was used but do not have the original CD that would have come with it.
The bike exhibits some odd quirks in how it runs and I would like to return it to a baseline tune just so see how well that works. From what I can tell, the SERT came with a few maps just for starting points and the baseline tune was one of them.
The SERT is a 32127-03 and is married to the ECM - a local indy has verified this for me. From what I can also tell is that I need a 32126-03 CD for it to operate the tuner.
I've searched high and low - including calling H-D Customer Service - and this CD is simply not available. The local indy absolutely will not allow me to even touch his copy of it.
Is there a way to return to a baseline map if I cannot operate the tuner? Would anyone on here happen to have this CD and be willing to part with a copy of it? If the CD cannot be found, then what is my next step towards getting this thing to a baseline tune?
Thanks to all in advance.

I've been lucky enough to have the local dealers ask their mechanics they they happen to have it too. Nope. Someone has to have it in a drawer somewhere and won't mind making a copy of it. At least that's my hope.
I'm still stuck with not having the knowledge of how to return it to a stock tune though. I've got my fingers crossed that someone will read this thread and be able to help out.
He is not too far away from you.
Let him know you heard about him on the forum.

2000 is M & M fuel injection i believe and not Delphi(newer EFI).
From your post:
What exactly are quirks?
What are prior works?
If possible please add mileage,work/upgrades done to bike and any history.
Several individuals with similar years of bike might be able to assist.
Could be something as simple as:
engine temp sensor
cam/crank sensor
even a circuit breaker heating up.

The SERT was replaced with the SEPST by HD, but the makers of the original are offering a reasonable upgrade option. Use the link in SteelKnees57's post to find out about upgrading that SERT to the TTS Master Tune, they opened up a lot of options HD wouldn't let them give us when it was still called SERT...

Now, I have updated versions of what I believe would have been on the originial CD. It even updated to the newer calibrations files that had been modified since their original release. I was not able to "pull" the tune that was in the ECM but was able to tell which tune it was providing that this tune wasn't modified. The software will not retrieve the current tune as it assumes that you have it locally on your own laptop. You can only "see" it.
I really didn't care because I wanted to hopefully fix a few quirks. I did change the tune that was in there and it was very straightforward and only took about a minute. I don't know jack crap about all those tables and don't really care. I've at least accomplished a baseline Harley approved tune - it's just not the original baseline tune that shipped with the bike. Progress is being made.
The bike does seems to run better as I suspect that the other tune was a little lean in areas. One of the quirks that was very annoying was backfiring when decelerating. This is about as cool as **** in a wicker basket. It seems to be very much improved and I cannot tell if there is any backfiring now during my short test ride last night.
Another quirk was unreliable cold starting. Some of the time it was instant and others would require a few jabs at the starter. This may be other hardware related but I'm hopeful that this tune will improve this too. The engine seems cooler when running too. I've never tried to use any kind of thermometer or gauge on it but it just feels cooler at intersections now and didn't heat up the garage like it used to last night. All of this is unscientific I know but it does tend to indicate that the engine is running cooler and since nothing else has changed it has got to be because it's now running richer. Lastly, it doesn't ping on the same small hill in the same gear at about the same speed with the same throttle twist. Plus, it just feels better.
The bike used to "buck" a little and take up drivetrain slack at lower speeds. It seemed to be caused by the engine not running smoothly at lower RPMs where it might be just about to lug. This newer tune seems to alleviate this too. Overall, the more I read what I just typed, I'd say it's a pretty good improvement.
So, thank you for that link and causing me to spend a little more time there and finding that software upgrade tool. It's made me a whole lot happier. I still want that original CD though. Just to have.
