Default how to protect hardbags

I am back into riding after twenty years. As on a previous post I purchased a 2011 Street glide. It is a very heavy machine compared to the bikes I used to ride. Is there any type of protection I can install to protect the saddlebags in case I drop the bike. There were a few times, while standind still on the bike, it almost went over. I know it is going to take me time to get used to it.

I would recommend mustang lid covers for a start to protect the tops;

and if you're parionoid about tipping over you can always get the saddle bag guard bags.
There's always some on sale here in the classifieds.
These are big heavy bikes, just watch out at slow speeds as that is when they're more apt to have a tip over.

Does your bike not have crash guards in front of them? If so, they should protect from simple dropping? You shouldn't do any damage unless you drop it say in a turn on gravel and it slips out from under you like that or similar.

Take the bags off until you are comfortable with riding.

I'd go with the bag guards. Just make sure you know your footing. Don't use the front brake at all while turning at slow speed either. You will get used to it.

You can fit bag guards like the Ultra has, I haven't seen anyone put them on a SG. Maybe find some used ones and use them until you feel more comfortable.

I have the saddlebag guards and saddlebag rails off of my Vivid Black 07 Ultra. I replaced the saddlebag guards with black instead of chrome. If your are interested, send me a pm

Get the HD bag guards. I got mine sitting in the garage for my 2011 RGU. Got mine on Ebay from New Roc HD...even with shipping they were cheaper then the local dealer.

I put the Saddle Bag Guards on, just in case I do a slow dump it will keep the bike from scratching/resting on the saddle bags.

I even left them on with my extended bags:
