Ok, I took the end caps off of mine. The left one, looked like the factory had pounded it into place. The baffle pipe had a bump on the end where the tube was welded. That is it wasn't completely flush on the end. I took a file and smoothed it down flush with the rest of the pipe. I had to chase the threads down with a tap and die. The right side all looked good, but there is a definite gap between the end of the baffle and the end cap. No such gap existed on the other side (being too long in that one spot). I didn't want to force the baffle out, but I may at a later time, then let the end cap push it the rest of the way in to eliminate the gap. As for the sound, it isn't as severe as before. It may be gone once I take the right side apart again.
Had a similar issue on my bike. Not Rinehart mufflers though. Klockwerks but I don't think it matters in my case. They are both 4 inchers though. Mine was just on the left side. When I put the toe of my boot under it when idling it would stop. Yesterday a popped both of the rubber isolaters out of th bag mount brackets and slathered them up real good with a silicone Teflon grease. Seemed to shut it up for now.
I don't run the rineharts but I have Klockwerks 4" slip ons with the V&H dresser duals, had the same chirp your'e describing. Mine ended up being the heat shieds being too close togeather on the header pipes below the tranny. After adjusting the pipes, all is well.

Yeah, I forgot about those little buggers too....the rubber muffler isolators can make some weird noises if they're old and hardened or if they're not sitting in the mount just right. I went over those too when I was cahsing the noise. They're only a few bucks to replace.
Does anyone know how too stop the tweety bird sound or cherping , I think the baffle is getting loose when the mufflers get hot ! The noise seems to come and go . It's only one of them , no this is not a hi-temp silcone fix ! I've installed several exhaust and have never put silicone on the clam area ! It would not stay for very long anyway , from the heat ! If it was a silicone fix it would it all the time ! Does anyone else have this problem ? Also have dresser duals in front of the rineharts , all new stuff just out of the box . When it's cold , it does not do it . But by the time a get too the freeway ( Approx 6-8 Miles ) it will start doin it ! Thanks for any input . . . . . . . . .
I have a set of Rinehart baffles for the 4" slip ons if anyone is interested. They are the 2 1/4" standard and I didn't have the chirping noise (unless I am riding over concrete or next to concrete barriers. Does that with every exhaust I have used.)
