Shifter Linkage - weak part?

Shifter Linkage - weak part?
While in Colorado, my shifter linkage broke. Seems like this is not uncommon as two of my fellow riders actually had this as a spare part in their bags ...
Now I'm curious if there are any other parts that may be classified as 'suspect'. Anyone know of any other parts that may be a common "weak" link? [sm=insomnia.gif]
note: this also spurred me to get a tool kit for my scooter [sm=goodidea.gif]
hmmm ... had stated clutch linkage, but as pointed out below was the shifter linkage .... thx!
