Default Windshield Removal

Did a search on how-to remove the windshield on the forum but couldn't find what I wanted. I have Electraglide and have removed the 3 screws that hold the windshield into the fairing but the windshield seems to be stuck on somehow. Is there a sealant on the windshield that is keeping me from removing it?

buy a service manual - it will be one of the best things you can own.

there is a seal inside that may be stuck between the shield and the fairing - no big deal, just a little work and it will come loose... actually, you are very close to removing the outer fairing... only a few more screws and it will come off.... just for fun - might be a good time to learn that -

from the front of the bike putt the windshield forward (towards you) it actually sits around the three tabs that the screws you took out sit in.

Pull the shield forward or towards the outer fairing, the inner fairing has tabs that fit into the ws to hold it in place. You only have to move it as far as the thickness of the ws, sometimes it can be slightly stuck on the weather stripping, just work it back & forth a little.

After the 3 screws are removed, you can actually use your fingers to spread the inner and outer fairing apart a little and then you can see how the windshield is installed on the tabs.

Yes, I have spread the fairing apart and there does appear to be a weatherstripping holding it and keeping it from coming off. Does this serve a purpose and once I pry it off do I need to to apply a weatherstripping again?

Thanks

You misunderstand (pry it off) - all you need to do is seperate the shield form the weather strip, very easy..

do be rough but don't need to baby it...

really, if you take the outer fairing off - it will all make sense.

When you get a chance, buy a service manual - it will be a great book to have in the future.
