I've got the LED headlamp and passing lamps installed. They are pretty incredible. I don't know where you are, or I would offer to meet up and let you see the difference (I have seen it, and the LED gives more and better light).
The HID headlamp kit is under $50 and almost TOO bright. The LED headlamp is close to $500 and MAY be as bright as the HID.
I do not get it...
The HID and LED are both $525. The HID requires a lot of extra wiring, finding a place to hide the ballast, and replacement bulbs that are expensive and hard to find. The LED is brighter, no extra wiring, no ballast and no bulbs to replace ever.
