got my $250.00 luggage from my dealer for $100.00 because i used up my points..they come in handy, but the dealer could just lower the prices and accomplish the same thing..the $100 i paid for the luggage was probably closer to what it should have costed to begin with.
I fell the same way about the Supermarkets and all of their "savings club" card bulls**t. if it doesn't cost anything to sign up for the club why do i have to fill out a form with all of my information and carry this stupid plastic tag around on my keychain??? JUST PUT THE S**T ON SALE !!
the dealer closest to me has a rewards program - gives you back 10% of all purchases, every time you accumulate $25 in rewards you get a $25 gift certificate
bonus: last year when my accident repairs were finished they mistakenly gave me certificates for 10% of the repair bill when they previously told me they have to discount all of the parts for the insurance company and do not include accident repairs in the rewards program
As far as I know all the dealers in Las Vegas no longer do this. I was told the were giving away too much. The points you have on the books you have a year to use them or lose them.
My dealer participates in the HD MVP program.
You buy into the system one time for $79 and get at least 11% discount for life. After that you earn points for purchases and activities that can increase your discount up to 15%. It's recalculated each year and the discount lasts until the next year. Points are acrued for purchase value but also for service, miles ridden, attendance at events, donating things to charities and so on.
It works for me since I can almost do it with miles alone and 15% is not a bad discount. This dealer really does a great job in keeping customers involved and everyone loves them. How often do you hear that?
