I'm looking for info on upgrading my radio on my 1996 Ultra. I'm looking for something I can do myself without breaking the bank. I still want to keep my hand controls too.
You can have kick *** system, yes system for around 600, just gut the stock stereo, and put a new head unit in there, new speakers and amp. Control module for the hand controls should run about $65, but takes some work to get it to work. lol While I don't have have the controls yet, I have Alpine head unit, 4 channel amp and just the front speakers on my Ultra and the stereo is still loud and clear at 90 mph... $160 for the head unit, $110 for the Alpine amp, and 80 for the speakers. Had Hog Tunes, junk speakers, no response from customer service. Lined the fairing with dyna mat and it rocks....
I have a biketronics setup with Alpine Marine head unit and alpine amp.I like biketronics because they are the only ones that have AVC.I had 2 sony marine players and both had water damage.
i have a alpine 2150 digital amp for sale if your interested pm me i used it for 2 weeks and sold the bike. and i have a new set of alpine 6 1/2 in. fairing speakers type R. to keep your hand controls u need to buy the bikeronics module they have a lifetime warranty on them.

Where are ya'll putting these amps on your bike? I know the alpine one doesn't fit behind the fairing does it?? That's all i need now is an amp to power these speakers!!!
i have had hog tunes and hog wired, hog wired speakers and hog wired amp their speakers dont last and they wont warranty them.hog tunes are better quaility and better service.also have a set of j and m on my screaming eagle road glide and they are way better than hog wired.just got back off a 6500 mile trip with the new harley boom speakers and amp and i never had a problem hearing them at 80 mph with ear plugs in and sometimes a good cross wind of 15-20 mph.so take it from someone that has 3 baggers and loves his tunes and does alot of touring. best choice is harley boom with amp ,then hog tunes, then j and m,i wont waste my money or time with the hog wired equipment they dont warranty their products and they are way over priced.
there are a lot of options, I will tell you the stereo that I have been looking into is a Alpine headunit, Alpine type R Speakers. I believe if you use a amp you will have to put it in the saddle bag.
