I'm not too happy about the answer I found.
I thought I was going to avoid using a wire into the front AUX port.
WRONG!
In order to listen to the ZUMO XM and MP3 player, a wire to the AUX port is required.
Now I'm considering a mod to my radio to install a AUX plug in the back.
Does anyone know if that is being done on the new HD radios?
I don't really know why but I hate that wire in the AUX port. Maybe I'm just being too picky.

Steve,
Check with these folks they have what your looking for. You won't need to use the Aux port with their hook up.

I see that they have a GPsSwitchSet that allows the GPS input to be fed to either the CellSet or the AUX port. But, I have a hard time believing that the prompts will play through the speakers if the radio is not already selected to the Aux port, without tapping into the Aux. detection circuit. Merely plugging in a dummy plug will change the radio to AUX. when removed, it will revert to where it was before the plug was inserted.
However, I am open to the idea that I am totally wrong on this. If I were 100% sure I could interupt FM, or CD to hear my GPS prompts, then return to the previous setting aftewards, I'd buy in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately, us older Zumo owners may be out in the cold on this. To get there it looks like we need to invest more in HD.
NIM REPORT
I installed the navigation interface module. It's not too difficult. There are 4 wiring connectors (sockets) that you insert into the large plug on the back of the stereo. All the cavities are empty so all you do is remove the plastic filler and insert the connector. I also installed the iPod interface which is simple because it shared the same wiring loom as the NIM.
XM AND MP3
I will be using the 665s XM and MP3 capabilities so this would require a wire from inside the fairing out into the AUX port on the front of the stereo. To avoid this, I removed the stereo and sent it to Iron Cross Audio to have a rear AUX port installed.
Should have it all working in a couple weeks. I'll report again then.

Well.......I have a 660, and the fairing mount on a 2010...to hear it thru the bike speakers, it has to be plugged into the aux port.
As far as the Ipod goes? I had my Ipod on a handlebar mount....then I discovered that the new system will recognize a DVD loaded with music, provided it is created as a data disk.
I put nearly 500 songs on just 3 discs. I use the CD player now, and took the Ipod off.

Anyone else have experience with this?????

As you said it was fairly straightforward, 4 wires and three plugs but ended up being totally useless.
I installed one on my Dad's 08 CVO today, thinking that it would work as advertised and put the GPS prompts OVER the radio, CD, etc. but it failed. Did yours work as advertised?

I had the correct directions which were dated REV. 2010-08-26.
Check the date on your directions.

This may have been covered somewhere around here already, but I know the Harmon Kardon system works better with MP3 Data Disks if you remove the Album Cover Art from the MP3 file.Easy to do that with iTunes.
Also noticed that Data Disk MP3 music sounds better (sharper/less distortion) than running an MP3 player through the Aux
For me:Unless it's a long roadtrip running an MP3 player isn't worth all the wires mounting it turning it on and off storing it etc...Really nice just to throw an MP3 disk in and keep it simple.

Mine works like it should. The GPS interrupts the stereo and I hear it over the speakers. I know there was a change in the directions. Two wires were swapped in the early directions. That could be your problem. It has to do with the Tan/Blue wire and the violet/gray wires needing to be swapped. Tan/blue should go to cavity 31 and violet gray should go to cavity 19.

I just got mine 09 HK on a 09 Triglide back from Iron Cross..
had the backlight display changed and rear Aux and Ipod cables put in...
I installed the NIM instructions date 9/14/2010 while it was out, so far i am unable to get it to work.
The stereo (am/fm) plays and its muted for the GPS voice command but there is no audible sound.
When in AuX, still GPS plays but no audible voice command.
I have updated the 660 to current 4.0 software... to no avail..

I can only guess why it's not working for you. Maybe I just got lucky. Sounds like you followed the directions and have all the wires correct. All I can say is to double check everything.
Do you have the audio splitter installed correctly? I had to read that a couple times before I got it right?
