Forgot to put stand down at gas stop, almost dropped it but pulled some tendons keeping it up. That was two Sundays past and I'm going to try and ride this Sunday, for the first time since.

Comming home from Bikes, Blues & BBQ I dropped it at a gas stop. After gassing up I started to move the bike away from the pump and as soon as I got moving, I realized that the Jiffy stand was down and dragging. I tried to pull it up while moving but when I put my foot down it came to rest on top of the stand. I got the bike stopped but the stand was no longer in the locked position and my foot was hung up on the stand. By the time I got my foot free and on the ground, it was all over. I got my foot down but it was too far gone for me to hold. None of my buddies could get to me in time. It went down soft with no damage to anything except my bragging rights. All of the guys that I was riding with and the guy on his way back home to Chicago that helped pick it up (don't know your name but thanks for the help) have done it at one time or another so it's no big deal but I enjoyed saying that I had never dropped mine.
1 advantage to my old metric, the motor would shut down if you put it in gear with the stand down, not a bad idea but probably leads to too much wiring?

Yesterday, I asked my wife to push My bike forward about a foot, well she pushed it and then wham she dropped it! She said I thought the kickstand was down! In her defense no damage to the bike or herself (in that order :P)

Kick Stand Down (?) and driving away (OOPS)

My friends 1986 BMW K1000 came stock from the factory with a set up that when you pull in the clutch, the clutch cable also pulls the kick stand up !

Can't say that's a bad thing (?) if you know that's how it works - driving with a kick stand down can KILL you ...

My 1987 Yamaha Venture will stall if you put it in gear with the kick stand down ...

Don't these things look bad when they are laying on their side?

Now you can brag that you have only laid it down once!

No damage and no injury is good.
I tore a rotator cuff years ago trying not to let a bike go over.
I won't try that again. If they go ever easy with the guards on the bike usually there is no damage except to your pride.
